The Power of Silence: Building Resilience in the Quiet Moments

Hi Reader!

It’s Friday night again—can you believe it? Honestly, I’m really loving this little tradition we’ve got going. The blog has always bean there (😂), but this feels like my own cozy little corner where we can just hang out and be real. Sure, there’s a bit of structure, but I never quite know what I’m going to feel like throwing in here. And honestly? That’s part of the fun. 😊

I had some fun nuggets lined up to share from Cultivate What Matters, but I think we’ll save those for next week. I'm still working on some downloads for you.

This week’s theme? Grace, curiosity, and growth. In my latest journal, I explore how silence and curiosity can be powerful tools. Give it a read, then let’s unpack how these lessons might just change your perspective!

In this weeks newsletter:

  • Pause, Reflect, Grow: —plus, your weekly challenge: pause, ask, "What’s really going on here?" and watch what happens.
  • Tiny Steps, Big Wins: A reader turned an overwhelming goal into a few small steps and made some progress. Who knew simplicity could feel so good?
  • Bible Adventures & What's coming: Mom and I are tackling the Bible cover to cover—peculiar stories, action items, and giggles included. Next week, we’re diving into a new theme: environments. It’s all the things!

Resilience Through Silence

3....2.....1.....Go.

Now that you've read that...

🤔 QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

  1. When was the last time you approached a challenge with curiosity instead of assumptions?
  2. What assumptions might be holding you back—from connecting with others or showing yourself the compassion you deserve?

GIVE IT A GO

Consider these questions to kickstart journaling this week or simply reflect on them during a quiet moment this week.

🏆 YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK

Maybe it’s with a gym member, a family situation, or even your own progress. Take a small step forward: a kind word, a supportive action, or even a little self-compassion.

At the end of the week, reflect:

  • What did you notice about how this changed the way you felt, responded, or connected?
  • Did it shift your perspective or reveal something unexpected?

KEEP IN MIND

Would love to hear your thoughts this week. Hit reply and share your reflections or ask me a question - I might feature it here, but don't worry, your name stays between us.

BEAN THERE, LEARNED THAT.

In last weeks newsletter I asked you pick one goal you’ve been putting off—something that feels overwhelming or just “too big” and break into the tiniest step you can imagine and share what you did.

Here's how it went:

I've been wanting to start a beginner class at the gym for people looking to lose weight but I've been stuck on where to find the time to figure it out where to put it in the schedule. This week I kept it simple like you said. I jotted down a few things I want the class to be about. Just doing that made it feel less overwhelming. t's not all figured out yet but I feel like I got a little further now. Thanks for the nudge. Talk soon..."

SPILL THE BEANS: QUESTION(s) OF THE WEEK

About the "chemical fog" in MN...what are your thoughts on this?!?!?!

((laughing out loud)). Not the types of questions I am normally asked but .........

My first thought was: Maybe this was just the Mall of America testing out a new Yankee Candle scent? Yea.... they are testing new Minnesota scents. Like..."Hotdish Haze" -
A smell of tots and creamed soup, with a smoky finish reminiscent of Grandma’s burnt casserole and oven cleaner. Either that or the mosquitos are sending out smoke signals early this year. Whatever it is, I say we blame Wisconsin. It feels right *Athena nodding head*

☕ FRESHLY BREWED: WHAT I'M READING OR WATCHING

This year, Mom and I decided to take on the ultimate reading challenge: the Bible, cover to cover. We’re currently in week 5 and have finished Genesis and Exodus, and now we’re in the first week of Matthew. We even found a fun Bible study to go along with it. Honestly, I couldn’t think of a better partner for this adventure. Between our laughs over some of the peculiar stories (seriously, have you read some of this stuff?) and the moments where we’re like, “Wait, is this speaking directly to us right now?” it’s been a mix of reflection and giggles. Plus, we’re loving the weekly takeaways and action items—it’s like a spiritual CrossFit WOD! If you’ve ever thought about tackling the Bible, I highly recommend finding someone you can laugh, learn, and grow with along the way. It makes the journey so much richer. 😊

Next week, we’re kicking off a new theme all about "environments"— your kitchen, your gym, your friends, your stress levels, your pantry, your work vibes, your digital feed, your sleep setup. Its all the things. Woof! Yeah, its a big area. Don't worry, we aren't going to tackle all of it. We'll start with something small, I promise.

Until then, keep planting those seeds for growth. You’re building something amazing, one day at a time. You know this right?

With love, 💖

Your friend
