- What emotion have you been trying to quiet with food?
GIVE IT A GO

🏆 YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK
Write about your wire. What does it look like when it sparks? What are you using to tape it up?
KEEP IN MIND
You don't have to fix it today. But you do have to see it.
Hit reply and share your wins or ask me a question - I might feature it here, but don't worry, your name stays between us.

✅ BEAN BITES
This week:
- That wasn’t a craving. That was a cry.
- Emotional eating isn’t dramatic—it’s adaptive.
- You don’t log it because your brain never filed it under “food.”
- Food was the blanket before you had words.
❓SPILL THE BEANS: QUESTION(S) OF THE WEEK
Q: "How do you know if it’s emotional eating or just...eating?"
Follow-up: “I do this all the time, but I’m not obese. So is it still a problem?”
A: Emotional eating has nothing to do with body size—and everything to do with why you’re eating.
You can be in a smaller body and still reach for food to regulate emotions, manage stress, or avoid feeling something deeper. It’s not about how much you weigh. It’s about the job food is doing for you.
If you’re using food to self-soothe, that’s emotional eating—whether you gain weight, lose weight, or stay exactly the same. And honestly? A lot of folks struggle with it silently because they “don’t look the part.”
Ask yourself:
- Am I physically hungry—or just emotionally overwhelmed?
- Do I feel guilt or regret after eating?
- Is food doing the work of therapy, rest, or connection?
You’re allowed to explore your wiring—even if it hasn’t unraveled on the outside.
Q: “What’s with the knees in your stories?”
A: Ah yes—the knees. What started as a totally unserious answer has now become a full-blown running joke. Years ago, someone asked me, “What’s the first thing you notice about a person—eyes, smile, butt?”
And I, being my weird and wonderful self, said: “Their knees.”
Not just any knees though. I’m talking about that little dimple right above the kneecap, where the quad starts to pop. Don’t ask me why—I’m sure there’s some buried psychological theory about protection, strength, or ancient Roman warriors. Who knows.
Now people send me athlete photos zoomed in on their knees like it’s a whole subculture. It’s absurd and I love it. Someone asked me this week who actually has the best knees. Well—yes, I do know the answer to that question. There is such a man. But that will be my secret.
(P.S. If you’ve made it this far, yes—you are now going to notice everyone’s knees. You’re welcome.)
🫘 COOL BEANS - RECIPE DROP: THE PANCAKE REDEMPTION
You waited. You endured the yolk experiment. You believed in the vision. And now?
We finally have a winner.
3-Ingredient Gluten-Free Pancakes (aka “Minimal Effort, Maximum Cozy”)
🥥 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp coconut flour 🥚 1 cup liquid egg whites (Do not use eggs with yolks) 🥛 4 tbsp unsweetened almond or coconut milk
Optional (but let’s be honest, highly recommended): Splash of vanilla extract Dash of cinnamon Tiny pinch of nutmeg
Instructions:
- How to: Mix it all with a whisk—not a blender (trust me on this).
- Let it sit for 1–2 minutes so the coconut flour can do its thickening thing.
- Cook low and slow, like you’ve got nowhere to be
Serve hot with whatever feels like love: berries, almond butter, maple syrup.

☕ FRESHLY BREWED: WHAT I'M READING, WATCHING, OR THINGS THAT MADE ME SMILE THESE LAST TWO WEEKS
Podcast That Made Me Smile:
🎧 James Hobart – Ep. 88: Goodhart’s Law
There’s a part where he talks about the instinct to fix someone—not because they’re broken, but because we’re uncomfortable with their discomfort. We do this to others, sure. But we also do it to ourselves. We try to manage, mute, or medicate our emotions so we don’t have to sit in the mess. He’s talking coaching, but it lands just as deeply when it comes to food, healing, and emotional regulation (which is perfect for this weeks theme)
📖 A LITTLE FAITH UPDATE
I’m officially writing a devotional on faith—something that’s been stirring in me for a while. It’s a 52-week journey through the Bible, pairing scripture with journaling, reflection, prayer, and small weekly action steps. It’s designed for anyone navigating weight loss or transformation—and needing a faith-centered anchor through it all. This It’s about healing. One week at a time. More soon.
Whether you’re rewiring or just realizing, I hope this week’s words meet you with grace.
You’ve bean through a lot.
